This is a super rare old Shell X-100 Motor Oil metal sign in a metal frame. I’ve never seen another one like it. The sign and the frame are both a dark red color. The sign is two-sided. One side has a picture of an oil can and SHELL X-100 MOTOR OIL. The other side says “Service IS MY BUSINESS”. It measures roughly 31″ x 48.5″ to the outside of the frame, not including the posts on the sides. The frame has a post on each side. There would have been a standing frame that the sign would have been mounted in that would allow the sign to swing or rotate. The standing frame is not included. There are 3 holes in the top of the sign just inside the frame. I don’t know if these are original to the sign or added later to allow the sign to be hung. There are no holes at the bottom. The sign is painted metal. You can see in the photos that some areas of the oil can are flaking and bare with paint loss. Overall on both sides, the sign has a nice old patina of a slightly dull brownish dusty look. It looks to be untouched and completely original. There’s a slight indention and small rust spot just under the “c” in service, and there are a few other small rust spots on both sides, along with some scratches and other wear and discoloration.
