The origins of the Quaker State brand of motor oil date back to 1914 when Thomas G. Phinny of Oil City and his son, arranged to provide a motor oil to the H. Of Syracuse, New York, This Syracuse firm manufactured automobiles with air cooled engines that placed extreme demands on the engines lubricating oil, The automaker began to use the Phinnys Quaker State Medium Oil exclusively in the factory crankcase charge and in their dealerships for motor oil changes… First appeared in national print advertising in the Literary Digest of March 13, 1915….. In the 1940’s, Quaker State was coined as the “Champagne of Motor Oils”…. The awesome piece of vintage advertising we have here is a rare survivor from the 1930’s…. It’s porcelain, double sided and comes with the original iron “curbside” bracket… The sign itself measure’s 29″ by 26 1/2″ and the frame is 31″ by 46 1/2″.. What you see is what you get here, it has some chipping and rust, still a killer piece for it’s age…. Thanks for looking, Be sure to check out our other stuff for sale.
