Then it started leaking on the bottom seam (stained area) and the Bovitol (reddish brown stinky petroleum/insecticide product) wicked upward and made that stain. The reason I believe this is because the seam in the middle of that area has been repaired with solder. That’s how they repaired a lot of metal items years ago. Oh, the stories this can could tell. Also, I would imagine that the technology used to put an actual photographic image on a can was likely “cutting edge” at the time.
